Perhaps one of the sweetest ways to raise money for a cause, Taking You Forward’s Say It With Chocolate event was overwhelmingly successful as a lot of people hung both messages and purchased sweet confections from the ceiling with the hope that the intended friend or loved one would see them. As if this was not sweet enough, the proceeds were all used to buy gifts for the kids of Kythe Foundation, Inc., an organization that provides support to children suffering from chronic illnesses like cancer.

Say It With Chocolate | Crunch & Baby RuthA campaign inspired by the International Chocolate Day, which happens to fall on the month of September, Say It With Chocolate was intended to spread smiles, laughter, and positive vibes to TYF employees and Kythe’s little warriors. And for five days, it sure did just that.

When the first few candies were hung, everyone started noticing as they flocked the booth, curious as to why the Marketing team was selling sweet treats and hanging them with yarn. Fortunately, many found the idea very appealing since they not only bought chocolates but also helped spread the word to the rest of their colleagues. Soon enough, the booth was visited by individuals, most of which were dayshift account agents, who were very eager to dedicate something to a person they like or appreciate, while some purchased for themselves or for the kids battling cancer.

As the chocolate selling progressed, it was fun to watch how buyers reacted while jotting down their message on the small piece of paper provided to them. Their smiles were quite infectious as they searched for the right words and thought about how the recipient would react when he or she finds out. And even though Valentine’s Day is still so far away, there were some who played the role of secret admirer.

With the lobby looking like it was raining paper, string, and treats; anyone can’t help but check if there is something for them among the yarned items. Gasps and giggles can be heard every time they discover their name or that of someone they know.

By Friday, the event was able to generate close to 1500 pesos, which was used to buy things like coloring materials and all sorts of school supplies for our third Corporate Social Responsibility event. All this was made possible thanks to those who were kind of enough to participate. Isn’t it amazing how small acts of kindness aggregate and form into something that can bring happiness to the lives of others?
