August GA’s Positive Buzz

August 2014 General Assembly | TYF, Inc. Call Center Philippines

Positive buzz. This is the phrase that best describes the overall feel of Taking You Forward’s August, most especially the General Assembly held last week. The most fitting way to end the month, this GA is noticeably full of exciting news that can only be summed up by three words: REWARDS, RECOGNITION, AND JELL-O. Yes, you read it right. The word “jell-o” is definitely included and not an error made by the writer.

As always, the event was started with an opening prayer led by Maureen Cometa. Hosting duties were given to perky ladies, Apple Solon and Julie-Ann Escasinas.

It was our CEO, Brad Norman, who took the floor first to talk about the updates or minor revisions made on the Employee Retention Bonus Program, a program which he describes as, “quite a milestone and is a bit of a leading edge policy.” The ERBP, which was the main topic during last month’s GA, is indeed a milestone as not all call centers in Cebu have it. It aims to reward those who are consistently doing well in their job and is expected to bring forth a lot of positive effects for TYF.

However, the highlight of the event is the update concerning the long-awaited Welcome Back CEO Party, a celebration held in honor of Brad’s taking back the CEO position after he “fired”—as he gleefully likes to call it—himself to make way for another executive. More details were provided this time, which includes the date (September 27) and the venue (The Whitehouse). Themed “Aussie BBQ with a Twist,” this is different from the barbecue soiree we had last time as Jell-O Wrestling will be included, a game that many of us is most probably unfamiliar with.

He also gave out a very inspiring talk comparing Taking You Forward to gold, an element that becomes clearer and more precious the more it is being cooked or burnt. Brad states that, “The last couple of years we’ve been cooked, we’ve been fired, we’ve been burned, we’ve been heated. And we literally came out in a far better position.”

Before giving the microphone to the next person, he talked about the programs that he’s been working on with HR Manager Josiah Caare. One of them is regarding the program allowance. He assured everyone that anyone who will be promoted will not lose it. Great news, isn’t it?

The next part of the program is the recognition of the top employees of the month, some of which are from dayshift or Australian accounts. They are Venus Ong, Claudae Mendoza, Rose Angeli Alinsug, Kevin Joseph Valle, Mar Flordelie Arado, Salerah Marsamolo, Melissa Londress, Janelle Arriesgado, Lara Christine Rodriguez, John Carlo Ouano, Brian Cañete, Mark Bryan Planas, and Jaqueline Jaque. Congratulations and thank you so much for doing such an exemplary job!

Other announcements include Recruitment Team’s Recruiter for a Day event, a chance for anyone to learn and do recruiting essentials like conducting initial interviews and facilitating applicant, and the recap of the #TYFGroupies and Selfie with the CEO contest. Everyone is also informed about the launching of three HR initiatives: the HR Online Complaint Form, HR Complaint Boxes, and the HR Consultation Programs. Lastly, is the reminder of our upcoming CSR event, the TYF Gift in a Box.

Our latest general assembly is a great manifestation of the things that could happen in the future, not just for the company but for everyone who is a part of it. TYF is indeed on the road to becoming a more fun and rewarding place to work in and a place that could give 10,000 more jobs in Cebu.
